Yipee! Woot! Woot!
My 4 months of somewhat sporadic blogging, indeed, has given me not only the chance to pay tribute to all the things that give me happiness and to share them in the hope of inspiring others, but it has generously given back to me so much more— the beauty of other cultures told firsthand by the very people who live them, the inspiration that comes from just seeing magnificent photography and awe-inspiring works of art, and the incredible warmth of so many fearless travelers, writers and artists who share their lives to me over this cyber-universe.
A big thanks and a million hugs xoxoxoxox to Linda and Ana Lewis (mother and daughter) of the magical place called The Nostalgia Exchange for so kindly nominating my blog for the One Lovely Blog Award!
😀 😀 😀
Hmmm…the award requires that I write 7 random facts about me. So, the award being “One Lovely Blog Award” I thought I might as well talk about a few of the many, many wonderful things that I find lovely. So, here are 7 really random and lovely things:
1. Mason jars
I haven’t snagged any antique mason jars yet, but I buy new ones to use for everyday. The Mason jar was invented in 1858 by Philadelphia tinsmith John Landis Mason. I just really love the way they look (so awfully pretty!) and the way they tend to keep things cold longer, so I bring to work my daily fruit servings, juice, water and (sometimes) chocolate milk inside these mason jars. I put my wine in them, too (but not to work—can’t risk that. hehe)
2. Boats
Though I must confess I am mortally afraid of deep, dark waters so that I hardly ride in them, I just love the way sailboats and fishing boats look. I also love the marine / navy theme in clothes!
3. Silhouettes
I especially like them against the orange-yellowness of sunsets.
4. Lighthouses
I wrote a bit of the Bolinao Lighthouse (built in 1905) here. I aim to capture in my heart all the lighthouses I could possibly find in my lifetime.
5. Windmills
“Now look, your grace,” said Sancho, “what you see over there aren’t giants, but windmills, and what seems to be arms are just their sails, that go around in the wind and turn the millstone.”
“Obviously,” replied Don Quijote, “you don’t know much about adventures.”
―Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quixote
6. Organic Food
I can’t lay claim to the title “Health Buff” yet and I certainly still eat the junkiest of junk food but I see the plain beauty of anything chemical- and cruelty-free.
7. Fireflies
I don’t have pictures of fireflies, but I miss them terribly. You can read about my love affair with fireflies (and bugs in general) right here.
Now, moving on to my nominees!
Here are 5 of the blogs that I follow because they are all of the following: (1) they’re lovely storytellers; (2) they showcase lovely pictures; (3) they are inspiring. Check them out!
